Last month my twin sister and her family moved back to San Diego from Vermont! I couldn’t be more excited! I am such a family person, and now I have my little nephew here to visit all the time. A question I get asked by a lot of people is, “Laura, how do you do it all?” My answer is, “Because I don’t have kids yet.” And let me tell you, there is a lot of truth behind that! Not that you can’t still do everything that you want with kids, but with little ones around things don’t always move at the pace you had planned.
My little nephew Aidan loves helping in the kitchen, and also loves sampling all the desserts that I make–and I love it! I wish more little ones were taught at a young age how cool it is to make food. It is a creative outlet for me, and allows me to relax after a long day. Plus, it ensures that I know what I am actually eating.Aidan really loves coming to my house because he knows he can eat popsicles, chocolate, and cookies whenever he wants because they are my healthy recipes. The only downside is that my freezer or refrigerator is open 24/7 while he is here. Oh, and when I make new recipes with the little man’s help my kitchen literally gets covered in chocolate and crumbs–why? Because that is what little ones do! Creating the recipes in this book has really been a family affair, and I can’t wait to share them all with the world next year.
